Methods

Deadwood, litter, soil, aboveground understory, and belowground understory pools are provided as plot-level estimates by FIA.
AGC and BGC pools were estimated by summing provided AGB and BGB estimates for each tree to produce plot-level values which were then converted to C using the 0.5 (FIA standard) conversion factor. Standing dead biomass (above and below) was omitted from these calculations. Plot-level understory C (above and below), as provided by the FIA, was then added to the plot-level sums for AGC and BGC respectively.
Plot selection:
- Most recent inventory for each plot in the state (2002-2019)
- Only completely forested plots
